Balvraid Hap ShawlDownTown Knits
Come and join us as we expand our shawl knitting techniques and skills as we knit the Balvraid Hap! Balvraid begins with a garter stitch center section, continues into a knitted border and ends with a beautiful lace edging that is knit horizontally to the body of the shawl. By the time you have finished you will have learned several new techniques and, also, have a beautiful shawl.
When: Sundays, April 8 & 22, May 6 (3 sessions)
Time: 1pm - 2:30pm

Cost: $45.00 + materials. Materials to be purchased at DTK
Skill Level Pre-req: Student must be able to knit & purl, increase & decrease, and work yarnovers.
Skills Learned: You will learn how to pick up stitches, knit a simple charted lace pattern, and how to begin and knit a horizontal knitted-on edging.
Pattern: Balvraid Hap by Rita Taylor. Please download a copy and bring it to class.
Yarn recommendation: ~950yds fingering weight yarn for the larger size, or ~600yds fingering weight yarn for the smaller size. Actually, this shawl could be knit in any weight yarn, you would just need to adjust the yardage and needle size accordingly.
Needles: US #6 & #7 32” circular needle, or size to obtain gauge appropriate to your yarn
Supplies: A few stitch markers
